| Letter - Mrs Molly Scott, 4 |

| In
1966 I watched a Sunday night play called "A
Question About Hell", I spotted an actor named Mike
Pratt, he played a murderer. In it he suffocated someone
with a pillow, it was his expression while acting this
scene which was so real. I thought we must see some more
of Mike Pratt, so I wrote to the TV Times to get some
information about him and to ask if he was going to be in
any more plays. The TV Times forwarded my letter to
Mike's agent, and Mike answered. I was thrilled, not only
did I get a letter I got a photo too. I was pleased he
was happily married with two lovely children, and yes he
had plenty of TV offers. At my children's school we had a fete, so being on the PTA I had the idea of asking Mike to open the fete, he was very busy and kindly declined, but has his play was on at the Aldwych Theatre in London he invited me to see it and afterwards to visit the actors in the dressing room. My husband could not make it so I took my brother Pete who had just returned from Australia. The play was called The Meteor. We talked to Mike about our families and my job at the Chad Valley toy factory, I gave his children a "gonk" each which was the new toy Chad Valley was making. Mike was chatting to my brother Pete about Australia and said he would visit there one day. We had a glass of sherry and, maybe I should not mention this, but I spilt mine down the sleeve of Patience Collier's blouse - she was so good about it. Patience had just come in with gifts for Mike's children, he was sharing his dressing room with Brian Badcoe and Morgan Sheppard. Before we left Mike gave me some stage money. It was a wonderful night one I've never forgot. Molly Scott |
