The
Barnsley Links website
was made in and is maintained in
Barnsley. The idea behind it was to
collect together all the known websites
that have a Barnsley connection to create
a portal to Barnsley. Here is a brief
history...
2002 OCTOBER
Barnsley Links v.1 began life as part of
a Barnsley College
course in Web Page Design run by Mark
Stuart. Initially it was hosted on part
of another website

2004 JULY
Barnsley Links v.2 moved onto a website
of its own using free webspace provided
by www.portland.co.uk .
This website was limited in bandwidth,
webspace and did not allow the use of PHP
scripts.

2005 APRIL
The www.barnsleylinks.co.uk
domain name was purchased and registered
via www.123-reg.co.uk.

2005 APRIL
Barnsley Links v.3 was uploaded
when 50Mb of webspace was purchased and
the entire site including domain name
transfered over to www.streamlinenet.co.uk.
This allows the use of PHP scripts and
unlimited bandwidth.

2007 APRIL
Barnsley Links v.4 was uploaded.
The entire site was overhauled and
includes statistics provided by www.statcounter.com.
The webspace is currently 150Mb.

2007 DECEMBER
Barnsley Links now features over 1500
Barnsley-related websites.
